WORKFLOWS

Cyfex offers different workflows for small labs and for industry labs, as shown below.

Workflow for Small Labs

Scanning

Each earmold design starts with a scan, be it a scan coming from an in-ear scanner or from an ear impression scanner. The scans are stored in the designated directory for convenient processing.

Designing

The modeling technician takes the scan as point of departure for the design and selects the product template of interest, e.g. a RIC earmold, a skeleton earmold, hearing protection, in-ear monitor, etc. Immediately, Secret Ear Designer calculates a result. Depending on the maturity of the template, the result will look like being more or less finished. In up to 95% of the cases as regards simple products, e.g. earplugs, only confirmation is needed to bring the design to conclusion.

Producing Final Product

Secret Ear Designer produces a 3D model that can go straight to the 3D printer. After the printing process, the usual postprocessing and mounting steps remain to be done.

Workflow for Industry Labs

Your ERP System keeps Track

Whether your orders are created manually in your order management software or whether you receive them from your webshop, your ERP system always remains on top of things. Each order is associated with a product template that corresponds to the chosen earmold style. Ear scans are saved there. Scans and templates form the basis of the resulting earmold models.

Design with
Unattended Execution

From within your ERP system, Secret Ear Designer Unattended Execution is triggered. The tool processes one order after the other in batch mode. Its performance is wholly contingent on the potency of the workstation on which it runs. SED and STL files of the final results are created. Depending on the complexity of the model, up to 95% of the cases run through and are successful. Quality control staff examine the designs using Secret Ear Viewer and perfect them if needed with Secret Ear Designer.

Build Preparation

If so desired, Secret Ear Builder continually aggregates individual earmold STL files on build platforms. It is fully automated, however, technicians can interrupt its processes to make adjustments when needed. This, to best deal with fluctuations in daily workload.

Printing

Secret Ear Builder is also valuable after the 3D printing process. It has a spiffy PDF report function that facilitates and accelerates the disassembly of print jobs. On top of that, the report can be used for the documentation of quality assurance.

Mounting

After the 3D printing, the usual postprocessing steps have to be taken. Secret Ear Viewer assists technicians with the mounting of more complex hearing devices, e.g. ITE shells or in-ear monitors. It can speed up the mounting process by valuable seconds, especially where space in the hearing device is limited.
